A Week for Catching Up
September 24, 2026
Don’t let the subject mislead you, I didn’t catch up on much farm work this week. There was picking and deadheading in between the rain showers, and a little bit during the rain. Otherwise, the flowers, beds, and other outdoor farm chores took a break this week.
The less hands-in-the-dirt side of flower farming was the focus. Filing, organizing, recording the notes in my head before I forget, and collecting and storing all the tools that have been strewn about the past few weeks.
The cool weather and rain perked up a number of flowers that were starting to show their age. I think they’ll make it to the first frost. It’s hard to believe we’re a few weeks away from a frost, if it arrives around the usual time. So much of this year hasn’t been “usual” so I won’t expect a normal frost either.
