It's Ingenuity, Not Laziness

There are some tasks I just don’t like doing.
You know the kind — the ones where you come up with a completely different, more time-consuming way to do something simply because you’d rather avoid the original way.
Inspiration for this week’s email came during one of those moments of avoidance.
I have a water tank on the truck, and when it’s time to fill it, the fastest way is to climb onto the back of the truck with the hose and put it into the opening at the top.
Except the back of the truck is often a rolling storehouse, the bumper is a little high, a little bent, and sometimes a little slippery. I’ve had enough bruises and slips from that seemingly innocent climb that I’ve decided I don’t particularly care for it.
So now I stand beside the truck and blindly play a version of pin the hose on the tank hole.
It’s slower. And yet some days, I still do it. I like to think the insurance company appreciates that.
No great lesson here. Just a glimpse into how my practical brain can completely abandon logic when there’s a farm task I don’t want to do.
The flowers still grow, even when I’m occasionally slower or impractical.
