Still Blooming, Even on Break
September 3, 2026
September's starting strong, reminding everyone it's still summer. It's been as high as 101 here so far this week, which means I'm working early mornings and late evenings while avoiding the outdoors midday. That time indoors gives me a chance to prep for fall planting and spring blooms.
Seedlings are under the grow lights and getting taller each day. Some are spending a few hours outdoors to harden off for their planting later this month. Tulips and other spring bulbs will be arriving next month, and I'm planning the beds now to be ready for them.
Dahlias are still the star, and they should be blooming until the first frost. There's even one color left that hasn't bloomed. They'll be featured in bouquets alongside new blooms like gomphrena, which is loving the hot days.
